HUNTING ENTERPRISES
Twelve forestry enterprises of the association have their own forest hunting departments with total area of 620 000 ha. Each of them is staffed with gamekeepers able to manage traditional hunting, as well as hunting with a camera and ecological tours of high quality.
Forestry enterprises, located in flood plain of the Pripyat (Lelchits-kiy, Miloshevichskiy, Khoinikskiy, Petrikovskiy, Zhitkovichskiy, Mozyrs-kiy) are good for hunting after feathery: wood grouse, black grouse, ducks of various kinds and geese of passage.
Quantity of huffed has increased significantly over the last two years, which made it possible to increase prey limits, particularly, wild boars - from 350 to 750 individuals, and elk - from 24 to 38 individuals.
Gomel region still remains the most attractive in Belarus for hunting after wolf, as far as its total number is the highest all over the country. Up to 300 wolves are shot annually. Population of beaver significantly exceeds its permissible quantity as well.
Nine hunting departments own hunting lodges. Level of comfort has increased considerably over the last three years (particularly, in Zhitkovichskiy, Yelskiy, Petrikovskiy and Khoinikskiy forestry enterpri¬ses).
Besides ordinary hotel recreation they offer series of extra services, such as separate kitchen, bath, billiards, an evening near fire place, boat and catamaran hire.
Hunting departments of 4 forestry enterprises (Yelskiy, Miloshevich¬skiy, Lelchitskiy and Zhitkovichskiy) carry on activity for implementa¬tion of hunting tours with participation of foreign tourists. This way, hunting grounds in Yelskiy, Zhitkovichskiy and Miloshevichskiy fores¬try enterprises make it possible to hunt after wood grouse and black grouse. Some of the forestry enterprises are staffed with foresters ca¬pable of luring animals, for example, elk and wolf.
Promising direction of hunting business development in the fo¬restry enterprises of the region is associated with organization of hun¬ting after wild animals, which don't commonly inhabit natural enviro¬nment, for example, European red deer. For this purpose, hunting gro¬unds of Mozyrskiy forestry enterprise purchased and released thirty individuals of European red deer. Deer will be delivered to Zhitkovich¬skiy forestry enterprise as well. Population for organization of hunting will be developed over a period of five years.
